MISSION STATEMENT
PS 107 is a neighborhood school that strives to develop responsible, independent and enthusiastic thinkers who enjoy the process of learning and have a genuine respect for diversity. Our curriculum is centered on the workshop model for balanced literacy and mathematics, which encourages students to think creatively and take responsibility for their own learning. Our students work cooperatively in heterogeneous classrooms, supported by an individualized approach to teaching and learning. In every grade, students publish their own written works and develop projects in math, science and social studies that demonstrate their understanding of the world around them. The arts are integrated into this curriculum, both as distinct disciplines of study and as vehicles for nurturing students' observation and communication skills. P.S. 107 is strongly committed to involving parents as educational partners and to serving as a resource to our larger community.
